Terms of use of the child data platform

1. General provisions

Welcome to the Child Data Platform (hereinafter: the Platform), managed and administered by the State Statistical Office of the Republic of North Macedonia (hereinafter: SSO).
By accessing and using the Platform, the user acknowledges that they are familiar with these Terms of Use and agrees to comply with them.
The Platform is intended for the public, researchers, policymakers, educational institutions, the media, and all other interested parties who require statistical information related to children.

2. Purpose of the Platform

The Platform provides access to official statistical data, graphs, tables and other informational content concerning the status and well-being of children in the Republic of North Macedonia.
The content is published for the purpose of informing, educating, supporting scientific research, and facilitating data-driven decision making.
All statistical data displayed on the Platform are taken from the MakStat database of the State Statistical Office and are processed and presented in a manner that enables easier understanding and use of information related to children and their well-being.

3. Children’s rights and data confidentiality

The Platform has been developed to contribute to a better understanding of the conditions in which children live and to support data-driven policies and activities in their best interests.
The State Statistical Office ensures that all data displayed on the Platform are in accordance with the principles of statistical confidentiality and data protection as defined by the Law on State Statistics and international statistical standards.
The Platform publishes only aggregated statistical data that do not permit the direct or indirect identification of individual children, households, or other persons.
Data are prepared and published in accordance with the principles of the protection of children's rights, non-discrimination, and the best interests of children.

4. Access and use

Access to the Platform is free and does not require registration or creating a user profile.
Users may view, search, and download available data, tables, and visualisations in accordance with these Terms of Use.
The Platform does not enable users to post comments, upload content, exchange messages, or engage in any other form of interaction.

5. Copyright and reuse

The content published on the Platform, including statistical data, tables, graphs, visualisations and other informational materials, may be used, downloaded, reproduced and shared, provided that the source is clearly indicated:
"Source: State Statistical Office of the Republic of North Macedonia – MakStat".
It is not permitted to modify, selectively present, or use the content in any manner that may lead to misinterpretation of the statistical data or compromise their integrity and meaning.
Any use of the content contrary to these Terms, in particular failure to indicate the source, unauthorised modification of the content, its selective or manipulative presentation, as well as use in a manner that may lead to misinterpretation of the statistical data, constitutes a violation of these Terms of Use. The State Statistical Office reserves the right to take appropriate measures to protect its rights and interests in accordance with applicable regulations.

6. Accuracy and availability of information

The SSO makes every effort to ensure accurate, up-to-date, and reliable statistical information.
However, the SSO does not guarantee that all data will be constantly available, complete, or free of technical errors, and reserves the right to make changes, additions, or updates to the content at any time without prior notice.
The SSO may temporarily limit access to the Platform due to technical maintenance, system upgrades, or other justified reasons.

7. Limitation of liability

Use of the Platform is at the user's own risk.
The SSO shall not be liable for any direct or indirect damage, loss of data, business interruption, loss of profits, or other consequences that may arise from the use or inability to use the Platform and its contents.
The SSO shall not be responsible for any decisions, analyses, conclusions, or actions taken based on the information published on the Platform.

8. Data protection

The platform does not require registration, does not allow the creation of user profiles, and does not collect personal data from users.
All statistical data published on the Platform are presented in aggregate form and do not allow the identification of individuals.
Although the Platform does not collect or process users’ personal data, the State Statistical Office applies appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect its information systems, in accordance with Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (GDPR), the Law on Personal Data Protection, and other applicable regulations in the field of information security.

9. Security

Users are obliged to use the Platform in accordance with applicable laws and regulations and not to engage in any activities that may impair its functionality, security, or availability.
The use of automated tools or other mechanisms for unauthorised data extraction, modification or disruption of the Platform’s operation is prohibited.

10. Amendments to the Terms of Use

The SSO reserves the right to amend these Terms of Use at any time.
Any amendments shall be published on the Platform and enter into force on the date of their publication.
Continued use of the Platform following the publication of such amendments shall be deemed acceptance of the revised Terms of Use.
